Shower Care FAQs
Congratulations On The Purchase
Of Your Frameless / Framed Shower Enclosure!

The inclusion of this beautiful and functional enclosure into your bathroom should provide years of enjoyment, as well as increasing the value of your home. With proper care & maintenance, your new enclosure will continue to last and look stunning.

How to Care for Your Enclosure
This enclosure, if given the proper care, will remain as beautiful as it is right now. Neglecting or ignoring the basic rules of maintenance will result in your enclosure not living up to its potential long life.

- The best way to maintain the beauty of your enclosure is to wipe it down or squeegee it after each use. If this is done after every use, it will not collect mineral deposits. With time these mineral deposits will "etch" into the surface of the glass & hardware.

- A weekly cleaning is recommended. The correct method to be used is cleaning your enclosure with a mild soap & water mixture. Some recommended cleaners are: Ivory, Comet pump bathroom cleaner, Lysol pump bathroom cleaner. Using a soft non-abrasive cloth, proceed to clean your enclosure, rinse thoroughly with clean warm water & dry.

- We have available for purchase the following approved products for maintaining your shower door:
--Solon Glass Center, Glass Cleaner - for streak-free cleaning of mirrors and glass
--Surface Protector - helps repel water spots
--Lysol Spray Bath Cleaner - for tile and shower doors
--Squeegee - for daily use

Warning:
Never use an abrasive or harsh cleaner of any kind on your shower enclosure.
Some examples of potentially damaging cleaners are: Limeaway, CLR, cleansers with pumice, straight bleach, Scrubbing Bubbles, Fantastic, 409, Windex, any "spray-on-and leave it" self cleaning item.
Some of the above chemicals can instantly destroy your enclosure, while others take repeated use.

Over time some mold or mildew may start to form under an edge of the silicone caulking or on a piece of vinyl stripping. At first sight of this, a mixture of 50/50 bleach and water may be applied to the affected area.

Water Tightness & Euro Frameless Enclosures
The design of these types of doors originated in Europe where it is customary to have a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor; therefore, 100% water retention is not expected. The most critical factor in enabling these doors to keep water in is the proper construction of the curb. The curb must be installed level side to side and with a pitch inward of about 1/4"

VINYL GASKETING: Our clientele require that each shower expresses clean, uncluttered lines. Therefore we have eliminated the vinyl gasketing normally associated with frameless units. Gasketing is available upon request.
No amount of gasketing can help retain water in a situation where a curb has been improperly constructed. All door openings are precision fitted, but some water may escape. With proper positioning of the showerhead the problem may be eliminated. Some situations with multiple shower heads, confined spaces, & extremely high water volume, may continue to allow water to escape.
